2. Which Australian Banks (or acquirers) can I obtain an Internet Merchant Account from that can be used with QuickBooks and VeriSign's Payflow gateway?

A: You will need to determine what credit card payment types you are willing to accept. Once determined, you will need to establish a merchant acquiring relationship that supports these credit card types. This may require you set up more than one Merchant Account. The following table lists the banks and acquirers that are compatible with QuickBooks and VeriSign's Payflow services and the credit card types they support:

ANZ Commonwealth Bank National Australia Bank Westpac American Express Diners Club
Visa
MasterCard

3. Will I be able to use Quicken Payment Services with my current Merchant Account?

A: If you have a banking relationship with ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank, Westpac, American Express or Diners Club, currently accept credit cards, and would like to accept credit cards within QuickBooks, you will need to open an Internet-specific Merchant Account with your bank. Contact your bank to determine if your existing account will allow you to process Internet-based credit card sales.

4. What is transaction processing?

A: Transaction processing involves the round trip transfer of financial transaction data (e.g. consumer credit card information) from a merchant's QuickBooks application to a processing network, and thereafter completes the transfer of funds to the merchant.

5. How long does a typical transaction take?

A: A typical transaction - including the response - will occur within 5 seconds. If you do not receive a transaction response, or if you receive a "time out" error message, there may be problems with your Internet service, or other network communication errors. Check with your system administrator to verify that your system's Internet connections are functioning.

6. How secure is the VeriSign payment platform?

A: A critical concern for electronic commerce is the secure transmission of data. To protect consumer data during transmission, VeriSign uses the latest SSL encryption technology that securely passes transaction data to the VeriSign gateway. However, an even bigger security threat to electronic commerce is the storage of sensitive data. To prevent data compromise in the storage server, VeriSign stores sensitive transaction information on secure systems that cannot be accessed through the Internet. Furthermore, VeriSign uses hardware and software firewall technology and additional encryption technology to eliminate all opportunity for intruders to break into a server and compromise information.
